Hi there and welcome to Speaking of Products, the show that helps people who are looking to start or grow their own product-based business. I'm your host, Dan Miller.
After years of running my own companies providing services in technology product development, project management and business administration, I'm now pivoting to focus on products myself.
Come along for the ride as I take the journey of starting and growing a product-based business.
You'll hear about the thinking behind my decisions, the challenges I face, what it takes to make it a reality, the highs, the lows and the lessons-learned.
You'll also get the chance to discover or reinforce ideas, strategies and tactics as I dive into various topics about the business of products

To be honest, even though I listen to a LOT of podcasts, this the first time I've actually created one myself. So, apologies if this comes across a little rough around the edges.
About Me
I'm from Canberra, Australia
I run 2 companies:
- The first, Citadel Systems, is a technology project management consultancy specialising in helping organisations develop new products or rollout enterprise services.
- The second, Trade Guardian, which I co-founded with my wife Kristin, specialises in helping other business with their bookkeeping, payroll and general administration.
I definitely love what I've built and what I do with these businesses but I've reached that point where you're just itching to create something new to help make the world a better place. With everything that has been going on around the world politically and environmentally in the last few years, goodness knows we need it.
About the Show
I want to ensure that you get a lot out of the show, so, in this first season of Speaking of Products, I am going to include a few regular segments.
To help you on your own journey, the show will mainly cover topics on the business of products. I'll go into detail about specific aspects that you can use to to start or grow your own product-based business.
I might drop in a product-fun-fact every now and again. i.e a short side-story, or quick look back at a well-known product from history and what we can learn from it.
There will be occasional updates from me on the activities I've been up to recently to move forward with my own product development.
To keep it engaging, I'll also respond to questions and feedback and we can even showcase a product-related short story or two from listeners like you.
Last but not least... there will be regular shout outs to anyone that supports the show in some way.
I'm really proud of what I've started here and I'm sure you'll get a lot of value out of it.
